BANDIPORA, JUNE 23: Deputy Commissioner Bandipora Dr Owais Ahmad Thursday reviewed implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), a centrally sponsored programme aimed at providing tap water to every rural household.
The meeting was attended by Additional District Development Commissioner Afsar Ali Khan, Superintendent Engineer Hydraulic; Joint Director Planning Imtiyaz Ahmad, Executive Engineer Jal Shakti, AEEs and other concerned officers.
At the outset SE Hydraulics gave a detailed presentation about JJM achievements so far . He stated that Bandipora became the first district to launch a door to door census in 2019- 20 for coverage of functional Household Tap connections , quality supply and working quantity requirements in UT of JnK. "A book was compiled with panchayat wise results which was appreciated by all," he added.
He further stated that Rs 309 crores Plan is now approved for Bandipora , which envisages construction of 30 new Filtration plants , 60 Reservoirs in addition to 100% coverage of HHs with Functional water connections .
The meeting had threadbare discussion on several aspects of implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission including status of tendering and administrative approval of retrofitting schemes, coverage action plan for providing water facility to remaining HHCS in the district and several other issues of public importance.
It was given out that all 113 schemes have been accorded out of which tenders have been floated for 96 schemes and 12 works have been alloted. He said 48 works have been re-tendered. He said 2021-22 shall prove to be a revolutionary year for Bandipora.
He assured the Deputy Commissioner that 100% FHTCs shall be provided by 31st August , however , structures shall be completed by year end .
DC Bandipora exhorted upon the officers to work in tandem to achieve desired results within the stipulated time frame.He articulated various Components of JJM before the assemblage that helped in removal of doubts .
He further emphasized that 100% coverage of Households be ensured by August end. He directed to submit pending DPRs of all pending schemes by including for construction of Health and Wellness centres at earliest. Ground water division was directed to ensure that the work on Water Supply Scheme Patushay be started immediately. All the Executive Engineers were directed to submit the status report of all the schemes on a weekly basis.
Dr Owais said there are 35 important Water Supply Schemes being covered in the languishing programme and directed the Jal Shakti Department to complete all languishing projects through JKIDFC without fail.
The slow pace of work by the Ground Water Works division was viewed seriously by the chair and was directed to submit the status of all works being executed by the division for monitoring purpose.
