Additional Deputy Commissioner, Suram Chand Sharma; Assistant Commissioner Development, Sidharath Dhiman; Executive Engineer Irrigation and Flood Control, besides other district and sectoral officers attended the meeting.
The DC was appraised on the present status of major and minor river channels in the district including river Devak and Basantar.
It was informed that focus has been laid on the protection of vulnerable villages, including Chak Manga Gujran, Chajwal, Rangoor, adjoining area of SIDCO Samba, Utterbehni, Mansar nNallah, Phoolpur, Tarapur, opposite AIIMS and other locations. He said efforts are being made for immediate restoration and repair of boundary Walls of channels.
The Deputy commissioner stressed on the need to activate the steering committee comprising district officers from different line departments to take up quick reaction protocol in wake of any calamity or disaster.
The Deputy Commissioner also laid emphasis upon all the officers to work in a coordinated and coherent manner for ensuring zero loss of life and property in vulnerable zones during peak seasons.
