DDC reviews implementation of NGT directions to protect, restore water bodies

KULGAM, JUNE 15:  The District Development Commissioner (DDC) Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat today chaired a meeting of officers and reviewed implementation of the directions of National Green Tribunal (NGT) issued for  protection and restoration of water bodies.

While reviewing the progress of restoration of water bodies in the district, the meeting was informed that  40 identified water  bodies have been restored.

The DDC also reviewed the action plan of all concerned departments for early restoration and renovation  of the remaining identified water bodies.

Later he also took stock of progress made in conservation and water harvesting in the district.

He directed all concerned departments to work in synergy and coordination in executing water harvesting programme properly in the district.

He also directed the officers to sensitize people about the importance of water conservation and to educate them about various methods of water harvesting.

The meeting was attended by ADDC, ACR, ACD, CPO, CMO, Executive Engineers from Irrigation, PHE, EOs and other officers.
