KATHUA, JUNE 16: On the direction of J&K Legal Services Authority, District Legal Services Authority Kathua, today organised a webinar on “Plea bargaining and Rights of Prisoners” under Access to Justice for J&K (Phase–ii) programme.
On this Occasion, Secretary, District Legal Services Authority Kathua, Pooja Raina explained all the provisions pertaining to Plea Bargaining along with its practical aspects. She also highlighted various Constitutional and other statutory provisions related to the Rights of Prisoners.
While speaking on the occasion, Panel lawyer, District Legal Services Authority Kathua, Naiya Sharma, explained basic rights of prisoners like protection from torture and violence, terms and conditions for parole etc.
The programme was attended by staff of District Legal Services Authority Kathua, Panel lawyers and Para Legal Volunteers of District Legal Services Authority Kathua.
As per the handout issued by the Secretary, DLSA Kathua, a programme on “Plea Bargaining and Rights of Prisoners” was also organized at District Jail Kathua in which Panel lawyer Naiya Sharma, Para Legal Volunteer Sadiq Ali and Para Legal Volunteer Neeraj Sharma of District Legal Services Authority Kathua spread awareness on the subject for the benefit of Jail inmates.
