The event was held under the guidance of Justice Ali Mohammad Magrey, J&K High Court and on the directions of Chairman District Legal Services Authority, Udhampur Y.P Bourney.
Sub Judge, Rajni Sharma (Secretary DLSA Udhampur) supervised the Programme which was attended by Assistant Labour Commissioner, Pradyot Gupta; Chairperson Child Welfare Committee Udhampur, Sharaz Hadayat; Resource Person, Advocate Balwan Singh and Yasmeen Rehman Member Juvenile Justice Board Udhampur, Principal, students and staff of Govt. Higher Secondary School, Sewna, Kud, Chenani and Sudhmadev.
The Programme started with the welcome address of Secretary DLSA, Rajni Sharma. She threw light on the mental and physical problems faced by the children forced into child Labour, around the world. “The day also gives an opportunity to the people to develop an efficient mechanism to combat specific issues that leads to child Labour,” She added.
Speaking on the occasion, Pradyot Gupta, Assistant Labour Commissioner and Sharaz Hadayat Chairperson, Child Welfare Committee Udhampur apprised the participants about the causes, legislation, hazardous occupations, Penalties and efforts by government of India to control Child Labour.
They further said that this practice deprives children of their childhood, and is harmful to their physical & mental development, while in the ongoing Pandemic of Covid 19, the children’s are now at even greater risk of facing circumstances.
Resource persons Advocate Balwan Singh and Yasmeen Rehman explained Child Labour (Prohibition and Regulation)Act, 1986, the Factories Act of 1948, the Mines Act of 1952, the Juvenile Justice(Care and Protection Act) of children Act of 2000 and the Rights of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act of 2009.The Proceedings of the programme was conducted by Raman Gupta PA to Chairman DDC Udhampur. The Programme ended with the vote of thanks by Secretary DLSA Udhampur Rajni Sharma.
