JAMMU, JUNE 21: International Yoga Day-2021 was celebrated today across Jammu Division by holding virtual and actual yoga sessions, webinars and other activities. 

 Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council celebrated 7th International yoga Day at green field Gandhi Nagar in collaboration with AYUSH.

Mayor Jammu Municipal Corporation, Chander Mohan Gupta, was the chief Guest, while Deputy Mayor, Purnima Sharma was the guest of honour.

Over 20 students participated in the event organized by the J&K Sports Council. The Participants were informed about the benefits of yoga.

Mayor JMC said that Yoga is not merely a physical exercise. Yoga works on all aspects of a person, including physical, mental, financial motion, psychic, and spiritual.

 The participants performed Yoga asanas under the guidance of a Yoga instructor. The yogic drill included yogic jogging, several forms of pranayama, tadasana, vriksasana, padahastasana, ardha chakrasana and many more. Medicine kits distributed among students and participated.

On the occasion, Purnima Sharma told students about the importance and need of practicing Yoga to stay fit and healthy.  

Divisional Sports Officer, Ashok Singh; Manager Sports Council, SP Singh; Satish Gupta; Medical representatives from  Ayurvedic   Hospital Jammu;  coaches and staff were presents on the occasion. 

At Ramban: Like other parts of the world, 7th International Yoga Day was celebrated in the district Ramban with great enthusiasm. In view of COVID-19 pandemic, most of the people participated in virtual yoga sessions which were organized by the various departments and   institutions.

The Deputy Commissioner, Ramban, Mussarat Islam also participated in yoga session held in the premises of District Administrative Complex and  Maitra Park   which  was organized  with a limited gathering by Department of Indian System of Medicines and Youth Services and Sports respectively amid strict Covid protocols .

President, Municipal Council, Ramban, Sunita Sumbria, DDC Councilor, Rakesh Thakur, Nodal Officer,   Dr. Sanjay Chadha, DYSSO, Dharmveer Singh,   District YOGA coordinator, Dr. Masood Iqbal Zargar, Yoga demonstrators and staff members also participated in the yoga events.

 At District Police Lines Ramban: To celebrate the international Yoga Day, a yoga session was held at the District Police Lines Ramban amid observance of Covid protocols.

The Yoga session was attended by the Senior Superintendent of Police, PD Nitya besides other senior police officers and Jawans.

Speaking on the occasion, the SSP said that word yoga has been derived from the Sanskrit language which means to unite. This implies the union of mind, body and soul.

She advised all police personnel to practice yoga on a daily basis to maintain their mental and physical well being.  

Similar programme was also held in Government Degree College, Ukhral    on the theme of “Yoga for wellbeing” in collaboration with Indian Science Congress Association-Jammu chapter under the flagship programme “Azadi ka Amrut Mohotsav”.

At Reasi District Youth Service and Sports Reasi under the supervision of District Development Commissioner, Charandeep Singh   celebrated 7th International Yoga Day.  Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Sanjay Badyal was the chief guest.

Around 850 yoga enthusiasts participated in the Yoga session held on the occasion, including online, by following COVID SOPs.

District Legal Services Authority, Reasi under the guidance and supervision of R.N. Watal, the Chairman organized an Online Program at 7:45am in the morning to observe “7th International Yoga day(2021)” on the theme “Yoga at Home and Yoga With Family”.

Nikhil Sharma from Nikhil Yoga Centre, Reasi and Jyoti Chandok from Shri Ram Ashram Public School, Amritsar were the Yoga experts and Advocate Raj Kumar acted as a moderator in this online program.

 Rekha Kapoor Nischal, Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Reasi highlighted the importance of Yoga in the present time of Covid-19 Pandemic. The Yoga experts talked about the benefits of Yoga in daily life and taught the participants about different Yoga Asanas.

 At Udhampur: To commemorate the 7th International Yoga Day, a yoga camp was organized by District Administration Udhampur In collaboration with District Sports Council Jammu and Kashmir and Indian systems of Medicine department (ISM) on the theme ‘Yoga for well being.’

Deputy Commissioner, Indu Kanwal Chib was the chief guest, while Additional District Development Commissioner, Kanta Devi was guest of honour.

  In her address, the DC said that yoga is an invaluable gift of India to the world. “It brings harmony in all walks of life and helps in disease prevention, health promotion and management of stress and anxiety besides helping to prevent many lifestyle related disorders.”

The DC also appreciated the efforts of ISM department Udhampur for organizing Yoga sessions since 17th May 2021 for Covid-19 patients and providing them immunity booster, immune modulator and Ayush medicines.

Similarly, International Yoga Day was also celebrated at Sub Division Chenani, Ramnagar, Dudu and Basantgarh of District Udhampur.

Meanwhile District Legal Services AuthorityUdhampur, in collaboration with Bhartiya Yog Sansthan   celebrated “International Yoga Day” by  holding an online one day Workshop on  “COVID 19 Pandemic, Mental Health and Yoga”  with utmost fervor and enthusiasm.

The online event was held under the guidance of Justice Ali Mohammad Magrey, Executive Chairman J&K legal Services Authority, M.K Sharma Member Secretary JKSLSA,  Yash Paul Bourney Chairman DLSA Udhampur and  under the overall Supervision of  Rajni Sharma Sub Judge/ Secretary DLSA Udhampur, 

 The virtual Workshop was attended by Judicial officers,  J.D Slathia President Bar Association Udhampur, Members of the Bar Association Udhampur ,Police officers,  Yoga Experts  of Bhartiya Yog Sansthan, Dr. Suresh Gupta, Senior vice president, Mohini Sharma Prantiya Sadasya, Demonstrators, Chazzu Ram,  Upkaar Singh,  S.K Gandotra,  Panel Lawyers, PLVs and students of colleges, government and private schools.

Earlier, the Programme was inaugurated with the welcome address of  DLSA Secretary(Sub judge), Rajni Sharma.  

At Kathua: The district administration Kathua organized a function to celebrate 7th International Yoga Day in the morning hours  on the theme" Yoga for wellness".

Deputy Commissioner, Rahul Yadav, SSP R C Kotwal, ACR Sanjeev Seointra , ADMO ( ISM)  Dr Ajay Kumar Tikko  and officers and staff of ISM Ayush Kathua  participated in the Yoga session.

 Hundreds of people joined the yoga sessions through Zoom meeting platform besides arrangements were also made for live broadcast on official Facebook pages of District Administration and ISM Ayush Kathua.

Government Polytechnic College Kathua also organised an Online Yoga session to mark International Yoga Day in which all the staff and students participated.

At Kishtwar: District Administration Kishtwar headed by Deputy Commissioner, Ashok Sharma in collaboration with Department of ISM/ AYUSH, Department of Youth Services and Sports Kishtwar, Department of Education, Mahila Shakti Kendra and other NGOs celebrated 7th International Day of Yoga 2021 by hosting virtual and off line Yoga Sessions at  District headquarter and all block headquarters by following all SOPs.

Department of ISM/AYUSH under the supervision of District Nodal Officer AYUSH Dr Tariq Hussain organised yoga session in the premises of DC office Kishtwar in which 21 participants performed different Asanas as per the Common Yogic Protocol under the guidance of Yogi Anil Thakur.

Besides, a felicitation programme for the ISM Doctors and paramedical staff who played an important role in the management and mitigation of the pandemic during the 2nd surge was also held on the occasion.

Furthermore the students who took part in the online yoga competition during the yoga week ahead of world Yoga day were also felicitated by the chief guest.

Meanwhile, the Department of Youth Services and sports Department Kishtwar also facilitated the participation of more than seven thousand (7000) people through virtual and offline mode. The students, nonstudents and senior citizens both male and female joined the session  from blocks  Bunjwah, Drabshalla, Trigam, Kishtwar, Thakrayi, Palmar, Nagseni, Padder, Mughal Maidan & Chatroo and made the event a grand success, informed DYSSO Kishtwar Kharati Lal Sharma.

In another event, District level Centre For Women, Mahila Shakti  Kendra celebrated International Yoga Day specially meant for women and girl children at AWC Sarkoot.

 At Doda The Department of Indian System of Medicines (AYUSH) Doda in collaboration with District Administration celebrated 7th International Day of Yoga amid strict observance of COVID 19 SOPs at District Headquarter and in all sub divisions and tehsils of the District. Today's event also marked the conclusion of weeklong events related to YOGA Week celebrations.

The main session was held with limited participation of 10 persons in compliance of Covid protocol. However, it was streamed live and was attended by scores of participants live. Yoga therapist Nidhi Padha demonstrated Yoga Asanas.  Similar events were held in Medical block Bhaderwah, Gundoh, Ghat and Assar by following strict COVID 19 guidelines while conducting YOGA events.

At Samba: District administration Samba along with the Department of Youth services and Sports organized Yoga programme at different locations across the district. The  main programme was held at Veer Bhumi Park, Samba town and inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner, Anuradha Gupta. A colourful and rhythmic demonstration of different Yogic  Asanas were performed on the occasion.

The event saw remembrance of the glorified heritage including inspirational stories & songs on Freedom fighters.

Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner said the whole world is celebrating International Day of Yoga and accordingly everyone has made yoga as their daily life routine. She further said that the theme of the programme “be with yoga, be at home” has transcended across the borders. 

A number of Students, Morning Walkers and Senior Citizens of Samba town participated in the main function at Veer Bhoomi park and performed various Asanas by adhering to Covid protocol. The yoga demonstrations were given by trained staff.

The functions were organized under the supervision of District Youth Services and sports officer Samba Kiran Jyoti along with field staff members. 

 At Rajouri:  The 7th International Day of Yoga was celebrated at PWD Dak Bungalow, Rajouri with full Zeal and Fervour by following Covid Appropriate Behaviours.

The program was jointly organised by the Ministry of AYUSH, Nehru Yuva Kendra Rajouri, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, District Youth Services and Sports Office Rajouri and District Information Centre, Rajouri.

Deputy Commissioner, Rajesh Kumar Shavan and Sheema Nabi Qasba,   SSP Rajouri and Pawan Kumar Parihar, ADDC Rajouri also graced the occasion and performed various Yoga Asanas.

The program was attended by participants by following proper Social Distancing and wearing Face Masks. Yoga trainers from AYUSH demonstrated various Yoga Asanas as per the Common Yoga Protocol. Dr Rajan Sharma demonstrated and elaborated the Yoga Asanas along with Dr Kavita Thakur under the supervision of Dr Rajeev Sharma, ADMO Rajouri. The National Youth Volunteers of Nehru Yuva Kendra, Rajouri were present in large strength along with the Field staff of DYSSO Rajouri.

The Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, while addressing the gathering appreciated the joint efforts of Concerned participating Departments and said that Yoga is not a One Day Event.

At Poonch: The seventh International Day of Yoga was celebrated with enthusiasm and zeal in District Poonch. The main function was organized at District Sports Stadium, where Deputy Commissioner, Inder Jeet and other functionaries of the District Administration and civil society members took part in Yoga session by following covid safety protocols. 

Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner urged the people to embrace yoga by making it part of daily routine, asserting that the focus must be wellness as well as protection from illness especially in the current scenario of Covid19 Pandemic.

 Directorate of Indian Systems of Medicine (AYUSH) J&K, under the guidance of Director Indian Systems of Medicine AYUSH J&K, Dr. Mohan Singh organized various Common Yoga Protocol programs through offline and online mode. All the programs were organized under the supervision of Assistant Director ISM Dr. Rakesh Kumar Raina and Medical Superintendent Govt. Ayurvedic Hospital/Divisional Nodal Officer IDY Jammu, Dr. Vandana Dogra.

Many live programs with limited gathering and adherence to Covid appropriate behavior were organized to mark the celebration of 7th International Day of Yoga. In this series, live yoga sessions were organized by the AYUSH Medical Officers in the premises of  Govt. Ayurvedic Hospital,  Ranbireshwar Temple complex and another session was organized in collaboration with 166 Battalion CRPF, Sidhra.  

Nehru Yuva Kendra Jammu celebrated 7th International day of Yoga with great zeal and gaiety in all 20 blocks of district Jammu and 7 blocks of District Samba. Over 14300 persons participated in the week-long massive campaign to mobilize and motivate youth and community to actively participate in International Yoga.  

The Main function of 7th International Yoga Day was organized at Gurha Slathia Stadium in collaboration with Guidance and Counselling  Cell for youth development in which more than 100 persons from different walks of life participated amid adherence of all the SOPs and guidelines of covid19.  

Educational Institutions in Rajouri celebrated 7th International Yoga Day in all the 15 Educational Zones of district Rajouri.

As per the reports from different zones 27133 students and 3214 staff members took part in the Yoga Activities online as well as off line under the supervision of Yoga expert instructors.

In Zone Thanamandi Yoga Day was celebrated in the premises of Government Girls Higher secondary School by observing  all the COVID SOPs.

Similarly Zonal Level Yoga Day was also celebrated in Government Boys Higher Secondary School Nowshera.  

Chief Education Officer, Rajouri , Gulzar Hussain Chowdhary also connected online and highlighted the importance of Yoga for living a fit and healthy life.  

At Government Polytechnic College Jammu: The seven day virtual “Fit India-2021” campaign on health and wellness organised by National Service Scheme (NSS) Government Polytechnic Jammu concluded with celebration of International Yoga Day.

Captain Rajiv-Holistic health Coach, Formulator and Fermenter; Yogi Anil Thakur Yoga therapist in ISM AYUSH Kishtwar and experts from different organizations were guests of  Fit India campaign, who deliver courses on their field of expertise

Principal, Er Ritu Jamwal appreciated team NSS, in her valedictory message and also thanked the experts.

 Er. Ajay Thappa, programme officer and coordinator, Fit India-2021” campaign, NSS wing, informed that more than 200 students, faculty members and staff across the disciplines and subjects participated in the week-long promotional event. 

Directorate of Agriculture: To make the International Yoga Day a memorable occasion and keeping the spirit of Van Mahotsav alive, a tree plantation drive was undertaken at Krishi Bhawan, TalabTillo, led by Director Agriculture Production & Farmers Welfare Jammu, K. K. Sharma.

The participants were informed that 10000 fruit bearing, ornamental and forest trees will be planted all over the Jammu Division under “Go Green Plantation Drive”.

Highlighting the importance of Yoga, the Director said that through physical and mental discipline, Yoga helps to achieve a peaceful body and mind and facilitates managing stress and anxiety.  

Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR)   organised a Yoga session at Media Complex, Bahu Plaza to mark the celebrations of 7th International Yoga Day 2021.

On the occasion, the officers and officials performed Anulom- Vilom, Pranayama, Tadasana, Vriksasana, Padahastasana, Ardha Chakrasana and many more under the guidance of Yoga Instructor.

Deputy Director (HQ), Dr. Rehana Akhtar Bijli, Information Officer, Ashu Thapa, Cultural Officer, Parul Khajuria and Field Publicity Officer, Shivani Deonia also participated in the Yoga Day celebrations.

Samagra Shiksha and Directorate of School Education, in association with radio 92.7 big FM, celebrated International Yoga Day jointly here at Government Model SRML Higher Secondary School.

 Project Director Samagra Shiksha Deep Raj, Director School Education Jammu, Ravi Shanker Sharma, Chief Education Officers Jammu and Udhampur and School children participated in the yoga session while following all the SOPs of Covid-19. They performed different Yoga Asanas like Pranayam, Kapalbhati, Pawanmuktasana under the supervision of Yoga Instructor, Bharat Bhushan.  

Government Degree College, Paloura: NSS Unit of Government Degree College Ploura, in collaboration with Department of Physical Health and Education, celebrated “International Yoga Day '' under the aegis of ‘Azadi ka Amrutmahotsav’.   To commensurate with this year’s UN theme, an Online Extension Lecture Cum Practice Session on “Yoga for well-being” was organized.  Mukesh Sharma, National Yoga Referee was the resource person on the occasion.

The programme started with the address of Prof. Ramneek Kaur, principal of the college. She highlighted the importance of Yoga in our day to day lives. She stated that practicing Yoga keeps us healthy and fit, refreshes our mind, improves our memory and makes us more flexible.   

GCW Gandhi Nagar Jammu:  under the aegis of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, Government  PG College for Women Gandhi Nagar Jammu organised a Three day  online workshop on the theme – Be with Yoga, Be at Home from 19th to – 21st  June, 2021. The workshop was held under the guidance of Principal Dr. Sangita Nagari, and aimed to make the students aware about the importance and benefits of yoga in boosting the overall quality of life.

The last day of the workshop started with the live session by resource person Shruti Dhiman, Faculty of the Art of Living. She explained the importance of yoga in controlling mind, body and soul.

In her virtual address, Dr. Sangita Nagari Principal, Govt.PG College for Women Gandhi Nagar applauded the efforts of organizers of the workshop and said that conducting such workshops helps the students to reduce stress levels, maintain mental hygiene and rejuvenate the body and mind.  

Horticulture Department Jammu celebrated 7th International Yoga Day under the chairmanship of the Director, Ram Savak in the Horticulture Complex Talab Tillo.

The Director Horticulture deliberated that Yoga helps in Self-discipline and it has become a source of inner strength which inculcated faith in people during the period of pandemic that they could fight the virus.
