During the course of two days inspection drive, various trade establishments were inspected, particularly those dealing with grocery items, eatables, vegetables, fruits and medical equipment.
Inspector Legal Metrology Batote booked six traders including a medical store and one electrical-items store for selling products with non-standard packages without proper mandatory declarations as laid down in Legal Metrology (Packages Commodities) Rules 2011.
The Assistant Controller compounded the booked cases and collected a composition sum of Rs. 17500 from the offenders.
All the traders were directed to use only verified weighing and measuring instruments in their trading premises and not to indulge in overcharging and other unfair trade practices. The department further appealed the consumers to remain cautious and exercise their right as vigilant consumer.
