SPCA Doda discusses measures for protection of animals

DODA, JUNE 11: District Development Commissioner Doda, Vikas Sharma, who is also Chairman of Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA), chaired a meeting of District level members and discussed measures for protection of animals.

Member Secretary (Chief Animal husbandry Officer Doda), Dr Sanjay Sen presented the detailed agenda and issues in implementation of various laws for prevention of cruelty to animals.

The meeting was attended by Chairman Municipal Committee (Doda), Ved Prakash Gupta, District Panchayat officer, Mohammad Idrees Lone, Dy SP Headquarters, Jaswant Singh, Vice president Dr Farooq Kelam, DIO Doda and EO MC Doda.

The mandate of the society is to work for the welfare of all types of animals and to provide effective means for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

The house was informed that Rescue Response Teams (RRT) have been established in all the 17 blocks of the District.

The DC directed CAHO Doda that any animal (domestic or stray) and bird if in need of medical help must be treated and shifted to the nearest veterinary hospital. He further directed the concerned to speed up the process of construction of cattle pond on the already identified 2.5 kanal land at Bharat Road.

The CAHO was also directed to liaison with DYSSO so that the NGOs can also be roped in for this noble cause.

District police was asked to register FIR against the owners whose cattle or dogs stray in the market. The FIR shall also be lodged against persons involved in animal cruelty.
