CAB critical to prevent spike in infectionsAppeals people to get vaccinated forthwith

BANDIPORA, JULY 29: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Dr. Owais Ahmad today said that the Covid-19 situation is improving gradually with a steep decrease in positive cases and improvement in recovery rate in the district.

The DC credited the success of the improvement in covid situation to the extensive testing in containment zones and vaccination drive launched at a large scale in the district.

While briefing media about the covid scenario in the district, Dr Owais said  the number of active positive cases has decreased further to 27 with only  one patient in hospital observation while others are being monitored at home. He said the recovery rate in the district has gone above 98.6 percent.

Dr Owais informed that 100 percent vaccination of the 45 plus age group has been completed  while currently the focus is on the vaccination of the 18-45 age group and more than 37 thousand doses have been administered so far in this age group.

He appealed to the youngsters to come forward and get vaccinated at designated locations as early as possible.

The DC said that there are 23 containment zones in the area including the one containment area that was added very recently. He said the positive cases were quickly isolated and cent percent mass targeted testing was conducted to identify the infected persons.

He said the infected were isolated and no new cases has been detected in these containment areas. He appealed people to get themselves tested in case they feel any symptoms so that they can take proper care and isolate to save others from getting infected.

Dr Owais appreciated the people for following covid SOPs and urged them to continue to follow the guidelines as the pandemic is not over yet. He appealed to the eligible people to get vaccinated forthwith so that more vaccinations in a shorter span of time are done which will translate into significant Herd Immunity sooner.

Hailing the efforts of line departments and all stakeholders for bringing the situation under control, the DC impressed upon them to remain focussed and committed so as to consolidate the results.

The DC said that the Covid Appropriate Behaviour (CAB) and SOPs are vital to prevent any spike in infections and cautioned against any complacency on part of the stakeholders so that the virus is kept at bay and its spread is curtailed further.

He appealed to the people not to lower guard and asked them to follow guidelines so that administration is not forced to take action against violators.
