DC Udhampur reviews progress of Migratory Tribal population survey

UDHAMPUR, JULY 08: To review the progress of field Survey of  Tribal nomadic  Migratory  population   Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur Indu Kanwal Chib today chaired a meeting of officers, PRIs and representatives of Tribal Community members here at Conference Hall DC Office Complex.

The meeting was attended by DDC Chairperson, Udhampur Lal Chand, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Mohammad Syed Khan, Chief Planning Officer, Rajeev Bhushan, ACR, Viqar Giri, ACD, Mushtaq Chowdhary, ACP, Navdeep Wazir, DIO NIC, Anil Sharma, DSEO, Noor Din and other officers of District and representatives of Tribal Community.

At the outset, CPO & DIO NIC gave a detailed power point presentation about the progress of Tribal survey in the District.

During the meeting, the DC interacted with the Tribal Community members. The representatives of Tribal Community put forth their issues and demands and sought functioning of Mobile Schools, Providing healthcare facility, Lack of staff in Mobile schools, Permission for migration, Identification of Tribal routes in the District, Skill development,   Scope of Tourism potential in the area, Promotion of local art and craft, e- marketing of local products.

The DC asked the concerned officers to activate men and machinery for effective implementation of the survey on ground. She exhorted upon the officers to work in coordination and motivate the Enumeration teams so that no one is left out of the survey.

She also appealed to BDCs, DDCs , PRIs and Tribal Community members  of the  District Udhampur to come forward and cooperate with survey teams visiting their door steps and guide them to their highland pastures /destinations so as to meet the objectives of this first of its kind initiative of UT Administration initiative.

The DC directed SDMs / Tehsildars / BDOs / Forest Range Officers to loop in Tribal communities, BDCs, DDCs and PRIs in identification of potential areas/ highland pastures / destinations where nomadic tribes may be available at this point of time. She stressed on promotion of local art and craft and assured them that the District administration would facilitate as well as provide them a market for the sale of their local homemade products. The DC said that the tribal will be given the facility of Mid-session admission policy for tribal children and will discuss with higher authorities for implementation of the facility in the District.
