Stress on effective management of solid, bio medical waste
KATHUA JULY 07: To review the progress under District Environmental Plan, District Development Commissioner Kathua, Rahul Yadav today chaired a meeting of officers of various line departments here at conference Hall of DC Office Complex.
Additional Deputy Commissioner, Atul Gupta; Assistant Commissioner Development, Chief Medical Officer, XEN Irrigation, XEN Flood Control, Regional Transport Officer, Executive Officers of various MCs, District Mining Officer, Divisional Officer, and Pollution Control Board Kathua attended the meeting.
The DDC took a detailed review of initiatives taken by different departments to improve the environment scenario in the district. . He stressed upon the departments to improve overall parameters of environment in the district with special focus on solid waste management and bio medical waste management.
Rahul Yadav directed the Executive officers of the MCs for separate collection of dry and wet wastes from the household and disposal of the same in conformity with laid down procedure of National Green Tribunal.
EO MCs were further directed for ensuring proper management of construction wastes and e-wastes within their respective municipal limits.
The DDC directed EOs Municipalities to submit solid waste management projects to his office so that the same could be submitted to the higher authorities. The DDC sought an action taken report from Chief Medical Officer regarding biomedical waste management.
The directions were Regional Transport Officer to keep check on vehicular pollution while Pollution Control Board Kathua was directed to keep regular check on the industrial pollution.
The DDC impressed upon the officers for restoration and up gradation of the water bodies in the district for further improving the environmental scenario.
