A large number of vehicles were checked during the drive out of which 12 vehicles were challaned/ fined for violations like over-speeding, overcharging, overloading, plying without speed limiting device and incomplete documents etc.
The enforcement team also imposed on the spot fine of Rs 8500 on drivers indulging in violations of rules.
The Assistant Regional Transport Officer, Ramban, Shafqat Majid also seized 2 vehicles during the checking drive.
He also sensitized the drivers about Motor Vehicles Act and Rules, besides directing them to follow these rules strictly. He also visited Bus stand Ramban in wake of ensuing festivals and warned transport unions and drivers to don’t indulge in overcharging and overloading during the festive season.
