The project costing Rs 17 crore has been allotted to Mathur and Co. New Delhi and the company executives gave a detailed powerpoint presentation to the Principal GMC, Administrator AH, Medical Superintendents GMCH and officers from the engineering wing. Under the project GMCH has been divided into 8 blocks and the company is going to complete the work block wise and the total duration of work is 15 months. The works include water proofing of the roof of GMCH, upgrading of all the toilets and plumbing system and connection to the STP.
With the completion of the project, the issues related to blockage/Leakage of sewerage pipes and non-functional toilets shall be overcome which were the main complaints of the patients and their attendants.
Pertinent to mention that a number of major projects have been planned/taken up or completed under Dr.Shashi Sudan Sharma like making MCH, Gandhi Nagar and DRDO Hospitals functional, installation of oxygen generation plants in AH, laying down of oxygen pipelines in all wards of AH, upgrading of Boys and Girls Hostels, DPC of paramedical staff, recruitment of paramedical staff, DPC of Faculty, recruitment of Faculty, Registrars, Medical Officers, Procurements of machinery/ medical equipments for various Departments, Completion of 100 new emergency Block, e-Library, trainings of staff from peripheral Hospitals and GMC including newly recruited and old staff, Upgradation of Microbiology Department including installation of state of the art COBAS machine and establishment of RT-PCR testing facility at multiple sites in Jammu province including peripheral GMCs.
