POONCH JULY 28: District Level Export Promotion Committee meeting was held today here under the Chairmanship of District Development Commissioner Poonch, Inder Jeet to discuss formulation of the Export Plan.
The DC asked the Committee to prepare the Export Plan by taking inputs from all stakeholders and sort out products by focusing on strength, weakness, Opportunities and Threat analysis of every product produced in the region.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Mohammad Tanvir Khan, CEO Tourism, Sukhbir Singh, LDM, Akshay Chowdhary, Chief Agriculture Officer, Rajinder Kumar Chief Horticulture Officer, Shaziya Rehman, AD Handloom, Abdul Jabar AD Handicraft, and Ayaz Ahmed Khan KVIB Poonch attended the meeting.
Earlier at the outset, Dr. Zakir Hussain, GM DIC, Member Secretary of the Committee, briefed about the benchmarking baseline export items of the District, identification of potential export products; preparation of District Level Export Action Plan with quantifiable targets; creation of subgroups for each identified potential export products involving stakeholders; identification of the bottlenecks; and identifying training and development needs for export promotion.
Officers of Agriculture and Horticulture Departments highlighted the productions, consumption and surplus of major produce of their respective sectors having export potential.
The Chief Executive Officer, Poonch Development Authority, highlighted the potential and promotion of scenic adventure tourism. Besides, said that there is good scope of religious and heritage tourism in the district. For this he suggested to develop Tourist Parks along Mughal road at Pir-ki-Gali (Nilana Top); Development of Tourist Facilities at Jabi Toti at Ari Mandi; Development of Tourist Facilities at Nandi-Chool Water Fall Loran Mandi; Tourist park at Narrian & trekking Paths to Maghina (Sawjian) Mandi; exploration of new Trekking Routes like Loran to Nandi Chool (7Km); Sawjian to seri Magania (12 Km); Peer ki Gali to Seven Lakes (13 Km); Chandimarh to Ganga Choti (18 Km); proposal for Ropeways viz Loran to Tosha Maidan which offer a great attraction for high end tourists.
