Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav - Remembering martyr Rifleman Jyoti Prakash on the eve of Independence Day

RAMBAN, AUGUST 14: On the eve of the ongoing Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav campaign, Shaheed, Rifleman, Jyoti prakash of 8 JAKLI was remembered at his village, Digdole in Ramban by the Indian Army. 

The   Commanding Officer, 120 TA Infantry (Bihar), Army Battalion located at Maitra, Ramban, Col. DD Swain   visited the  remote village, Digdole to felicitate Bhoop Singh aged 82 years, father of Rifleman Joti Prakash, Sena Medal, who had made the supreme sacrifice in the Siachen Glacier on September 23, 1987 in an attack on a hill occupied by Pakistan Army. 

The Army personnel also laid a wreath on the memorial made by his family near the school of the village with the band playing in the background. After that they went to the house of the Martyr and presented memorabilia as well as a cheque of ₹ 25000 to   Bhoop Singh in the presence of the Sarpanch and other prominent people of the area.

Naik Nihal Singh now retired from service who was along with Rifleman Joti Prakash in the same operation narrated the incident in front of the gathering. The family of the Martyr was overwhelmed by the gesture of the Army, which never forgets to remember its Heroes.
