The event was organized in Panchayat Amala and Jasrota which was attended by local Sarpanch Madhu Sharma, Sarpanch Panchayat Rakh Hoshyari (Jasrota) Sudarshan Khajuria and other PRI members, NGOs and prominent citizens.
Wildlife Warden Kathua Vijay Kumar, & Range Officer Jasrota Wildlife Sanctuary Bishamber Singh and officials of Wildlife Division Kathua also attended the programme. Madhu Sharma appreciated the Eco-development activities being undertaken by the Wildlife Protection Department around the Jasrota Wildlife Sanctuary and pledged to join hands with the Wildlife Protection Department for Conservation of Wildlife and Biodiversity.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Wildlife Warden, J&K said that the Wildlife Protection Department has targeted to plant 1.25 lakh saplings of fruits, fodder and shelter trees in different protected areas of Jammu Region during the current monsoon season. He also informed that there are three Wildlife Sanctuaries and one Conservation Reserve in Wildlife Division Kathua covering an area of 226.52 sq.km. He also appealed to the PRIs and general public, especially youth, to actively participate in plantation activities in special occasions like Birthdays etc. to encourage the young generation for this noble cause.
