DC Kishtwar appeals people to follow CAB amid increase in Positive cases

KISHTWAR, AUGUST 10: Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, Ashok Sharma today appealed the people to follow Covid Appropriate Behaviour religiously in view of slight  increase in Positive cases recorded this week.

“This week’s positive cases have exceeded those of  previous week which is alarming and calls for taking extra precautions” the Deputy Commissioner said  here at the weekly  press briefing on the Current COVID Scenario in the District.

He informed that this week 44 cases were reported as against 24 cases in the last week.

He appealed to the people to stick to the guidelines issued by the government and follow  Covid Appropriate Behaviour (CAB) and take vaccines as these are the only potent tools to avert the 3rd wave.

He further informed that  in the second surge since March 2021 the district  recorded 1938 positive cases, of which 1871 have recovered whereas a total of  51 cases are active at present.

Giving details about containment zones and vaccination , he informed the media that there is only one containment zone, but with the spike in cases district administration is going to adopt a proactive and intensive approach and may notify new containment zones to contain and manage the growing cases effectively and efficiently.

Terming vaccination as the only effective tool to safeguard the public against the virus, he informed that the district has achieved 100 percent vaccination of 45 year and above age group, while vaccination of 18-44 age group is underway.

He informed that the Covid containment measures like extensive sampling and testing at check nakas, and random sampling in market places has been intensified once again.

The DC appealed to the people not to lower the guard against the virus.
