The ration kits containing turmeric, moong, grams, peas, salt, soybean and oil were provided to the beneficiaries.
Among the others, DDC Member Rajouri, Sai Abdul Rashid; BDC Chairperson Rajouri, Darbar Chowdhary; BDC Chairperson Dhangri, Tazeem Akhter; President MC Rajouri, Mohd Arief; PO ICDS, Kartar Singh; CAO, Shabana Azmin; DSWO, Wakeel Ahmed Bhatt; WWO, Dr Anum Mirza; CDPO Rajouri, Naseer Ahmed besides President Beopar Mandal, Rajesh Gupta and officials of the ICDS Department were present on the occasion.
The ration kits were distributed under the SAG scheme of the Government which is a special intervention for adolescent girls and was launched in the year 2010 using the ICDS infrastructure with an aim at breaking the intergenerational life-cycle of nutritional and gender disadvantage thus providing a supportive environment for self-development of adolescent girls.
The District Development Commissioner, while speaking on the occasion, said the empowerment of women at every stage is a must for their proper growth and attaining a respectful life in the society.
The District Development Commissioner said that adolescence is the time to learn and adopt healthy habits to avoid many health and nutritional problems later in life and dietary knowledge and access to resources are critical to improving health and nutrition sustainably.
The District Development Commissioner also said that the District Administration Rajouri is committed to provide a supportive environment for the self-development of adolescent girls and several measures are being taken in this connection.
The District Development Commissioner directed the concerned field functionaries of the ICDS Department to ensure that the necessary benefits of the schemes being implemented by the department percolate to the last beneficiary of the district.
