DODA, AUGUST 16: Department of Pediatrics GMC DODA, under the leadership of Principal (Dr.) Dinesh Kumar, today organized one day basic Neonatal resuscitation program-First Golden Minute Workshop to develop latest skills among Medical Officers and Paramedical staff for preventing neonatal mortality due to Birth Asphyxia.
In India, more than 2 Lakh Newborn die due to Birth Asphyxia in first 24hrs out of approx. 2 crore Births per year. Importance of First Golden minute of life was highlighted in this workshop to help decrease this newborn death rate.
Dr. Niraj Kumar, Assistant Professor Pediatrics was course coordinator and Lead instructor for this IAPNRPFGM workshop of Indian Academy of Pediatrics and National Neonatology Forum of India. He along with other Faculty Dr. Najmus Saqib (AP), Dr. R.S. Manhas (AP), Dr. Tahir Rehmatullah and Dr. Zahoor will train maximum medicos and Paramedical staff associated with newborn delivery to make them certified Skilled Birth Attendant.
Dr. Subash Singh Slathia (Senior Pediatrician & State Academic coordinator of this IAPNRPFGM Project), in his telephonic message, lauded the efforts of Department of Pediatrics GMC Doda for organizing such training activities in peripheral districts. The course coordinator also thanked Medical Superintendent for his full support in organizing this workshop.
In the end, Principal Prof (Dr.) Dinesh Kumar distributed the course completion certificates among the successful participants and advised them to use these skills in delivery rooms and share this knowledge to staff working at birthing places in peripheral areas too.
