On the direction of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ashok Sharma, District Panchayat officer Zakir Hussain gave away the publication copies to sarpanches and other PRIs members of 3 Blocks namely Kishtwar, Thakrie and Trigam in a programme held here at Block Development Officers office.
Block Development Officer, Sheetal Sharma, Sarpanchs of block Kishtwar, besides others were present.
The programme was conducted by following all COVID 19 SOPs.
The DPO informed the PRIs that the 76-page Handbook has been prepared by the Department of Information and Public Relation of the J&K which contains details of the achievements of the administration, including implementation of all 890 central laws and several schemes in J&K in the past two years ensuring justice and fairness to all sections of the society.
He said that the booklet informs that 4.1 million domicile certificates have been issued so far, and highlights the successful conduct of block development council elections and urban local bodies elections, thus putting a three-tier Panchayati Raj system in place to ensure development at grassroots level.
He further said that the Handbook also reflects the important aspects and achievements of the ICONIC projects of UT and ‘Back to Village’ programme of bureaucrats reaching the doorsteps of residents of far-off villages and ‘My Town My Pride’ programme for the cities which were conducted successfully amid the COVID pandemic
