Director asks nursery staff to put in extra efforts 

 JAMMU, AUGUST 14:  Director Horticulture Jammu, Ram Savak today asked the departmental nurseries to put in extra efforts to achieve the benchmark for production of 12 lakh plants set for this year.

He asked the Nursery Staff to lay focus on establishment of nurseries exclusively for production of Kiwi and Apricot fruit plants.

 He was chairing a meeting of the officers and officials of five districts of Jammu Division, viz: Jammu, Samba, Reasi, Udhampur and Rajouri here in the conference hall of Directorate of Horticulture, Talab Tillo. The Chief Horticulture Officers of Samba, Rajouri, Udhampur & Reasi districts joined the meeting through virtual mode.

The chair reviewed the progress of various developmental activities especially the progress of civil works in the public sector nurseries and the ongoing plantation during the ensuing season being carried out in the current financial year in Jammu Division. The officers appraised the chair about the status of various works and progress being made under different departmental schemes like  CAPEX Budget and centrally sponsored schemes viz: MIDH, PMKSY, PMDP, TBO. They also told in detail about the achievements being made as on date in the High Density Plantation.

The Director Horticulture Jammu impressed upon all the officers to work with full zeal and speed up the works in the field to achieve the targets allotted for High Density Plantation under the CAPEX scheme. The chair also enquired about the zone wise requirements of the different components under Farm Mechanization and Irrigation strengthening infrastructure. He asked the Chief Horticulture Officers to start the civil works to be undertaken in the public nurseries under CAPEX within week’s time so that the funds may be utilized in time.

The Chair exhorted upon the nursery staff to enhance the production in the departmental nurseries so that the benchmark for production of 12 lakh plants during the current financial year shall be achieved.

Chief Horticulture Officer Jammu, Accounts Officer, and other officers of the department were also present in the meeting.
