DC appeals people to take extra precautions

KISHTWAR, AUGUST, 14:  Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Ashok Sharma asked the people not to lower guard against Covid to prevent fresh surge in cases.

He informed that the number of COVID positive cases has recorded a slight increase in the last two weeks which calls for taking extra precautions.

The Covid containment measures like intensive sampling and testing at check nakas and random sampling in market places have been started on war footing once again, he informed.

He was speaking at the weekly press briefing on the Current COVID care Scenario in the district.

He appealed the people to religiously stick to the guidelines issued by govt from time to time and follow Covid Appropriate Behaviour (CAB) and take vaccine as these are the only effective tools to avert the 3rd wave. He informed that the district as reported 35 new cases this week against the 26 cases last week, which is on higher side.

He further informed that  during the second surge since March 2021 the district  has recorded 1955 positive cases, of which 1882 have recovered while  57 are active and 3 are admitted in district hospital.

He informed that the district has achieved 100 percent vaccination of 45 and above age persons, while 44 percent persons in 18-44 yrs have also been given first dose.

During press briefing DC Kishtwar also extended warm greetings and good wishes to the people of Kishtwar  on the joyous occasion of 75th Independence Day celebration.

Besides, he informed that District Administration is also conducting series of activities to celebrate 75 week-long Azadi ka Amrut Mohatsav to mark the 75 years of India's Independence.
