A group of 30 Trekkers and bloggers was flagged off by SDM Katra, Abhishek Sharma and Joint Director Tourism, Jammu, Natasha Kalsotra. About 5 KM trek to the temple starts from a narrow stream flowing throughout the trek route. On this adventurous trek, there are a variety of flora and fauna making every sight delightful. Huge peaks and hillocks on the way promise to keep the journey magnificent. The surroundings are a visual treat, particularly for nature lovers.
The Joint Director Tourism, Jammu, informed that the motive of organizing this Trekking is to promote Adventure Tourism in Katra and to divert the lakhs of pilgrims visiting the town to other destinations in and around Jammu and Katra in particular. This will also help in promoting the unexplored destinations of Jammu Division and will boost the economy of the area and generate employment opportunities for the host population. She further informed that a series of Events & Adventure activities are in the pipeline in coming months which shall help in boosting tourism in Jammu region.
She also asked the Trekkers to explore the nature while traversing through the area and also post the same in their blogs to promote the destination.
Hardeep Bhagat a trekker said “With resumption of such activities by the Tourism Department post COVID-19, we are hopeful that these destinations will receive a good tourist footfall this year and shall compensate for the loss of the tourism sector to large extent.”
Assistant Director Tourism, Katra Ambika Bali ; Block Development Officer, Riddhima Sharma; Tehsildar Anil Charak besides other senior officers/officials of the Tourism Department also trekked to the Holy Shrine of Devi Pindi.
