KISHTWAR, OCTOBER 30: As a part of Civic Action Programme, District Police Kishtwar in collaboration with Department of Youth Services and Sport today organised a "Marathon Race" here at Chowgan Ground.
The Fraternity of Sports Department under the guidance of District Youth Services and Sports Officer Kharati Lal Sharma conducted the assignment of officiating and providing participants for Marathon Race of Male (All Age Groups).
The Marathon was flagged off by the Chief Guest, Senior Superintendent of Police, Shafqat Hussain Butt and the participants evinced great enthusiasm while taking part in the marathon.
Venus Singh won the Marathon by completing the distance in 5.16 minutes, while Manjeet Kumar and Jeet Raj Sharma crossed the finishing line with the timing 5.18 and 15.19 minutes and bagged 2nd and 3rd position, respectively.
Chief Guest gave away Cash Prizes among the winners in presence of Additional SP Rajinder Singh, DySP Hq Sateesh Kumar, DySP Dr Zai-Ul- Haq & SHO Abid Bukhari.
Speaking on the occasion, the SSP made the participants aware about the importance of taking part in games for mental and physical fitness.
He said that Sports help us to identify our inborn talent & capabilities. He advised the students to stay away from drugs and inform the police department if someone close to you has an addiction to it so that Police will help them by behavioural counseling & medication.
