JAMMU, NOVEMBER 20: Jammu and Kashmir Judicial Academy today organized one day Refresher Training programme on ‘Charge and Discharge in Sessions Trials, Recording of Evidence, Examination–in- Chief, Cross Examination and Power of Judges to put questions u/s 165 Evidence Act’ for all the District and Session Judges serving in Jammu province.
The training programme was held under the supervision of Chief Justice, High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, (Patron-in-Chief, J&K Judicial Academy), Pankaj Mithal and guidance of Chairman, Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur and other Judges of Governing Committee of Jammu & Kashmir Judicial Academy.
“Public expectations are very high from the Judiciary and it should be the prime duty of every Judicial Officer to be responsive towards demands and concerns of the society for which they have to constantly update themselves”, observed Justice Janak Raj Kotwal, Former Judge, High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Chairman, Advisory Board under JKPSA, who was the resource person for the refresher training programme.
The resource person presented a detailed overview of the subject including Charge and Discharge in Session Trials, Recording of Evidence, Examination– in-Chief, Cross Examination and Power of Judges to put questions u/s 165 Evidence Act.
Director, J&K Judicial Academy, Sanjay Parihar, said that platform provided by the Judicial Academy is an opportunity for the participants of the training programme to update their knowledge and clear their doubts by interacting with the expert Resource Persons.
Later, an interactive session was held during which the participants deliberated upon various aspects of the subject and raised queries which were satisfactorily settled by the resource person.
The programme concluded with vote of thanks by Director J&K Judicial Academy who expressed gratitude to the visiting resource person and participants. He hoped that the deliberations held in the programme would be an enriching experience and provide impetus to justice dispensation.
