Ramban administration intensifies market checking amid festive season

RAMBAN, NOVEMBER 01: In view of the upcoming Diwali festival,   the enforcement agencies have intensified market checking in Rmaban  and other major towns of the district to keep check on quality of foodstuff, overpricing and hoarding.  

In the series of such inspections, the checking squads constituted on the directions of Deputy Commissioner, Mussarat Islam, today recovered a fine of Rs 42700 from erring traders.

The teams headed by concerned Tehsildars inspected the man markets within their jurisdiction and booked several erring shopkeepers found failing to maintain the quality of food items, not displaying rate lists of essential commodities, selling expiry products besides indulging in practices of illegal profiteering and sale of underweight products.

A joint team comprising Tehsildar Banihal Imtiyaz Ahmed,   TSO and Police carried out a surprise inspection  in   main bazaar Banihal and recovered  Rs 19900 as fine from defaulters.

In Batote Tehsil Rs. 8100 fine was recovered  from erring traders. Similarly, Rs. 5100 and Rs 6000 fine was recovered  from erring traders in Gool and Ramsoo, while Tehsildar Ramban recovered Rs. 6000 as fine during market checking.  

The checking teams  also destroyed spoilage fruits and vegetables. All the shopkeepers, dabawales and vendors were directed to maintain hygiene and quality of eatables and also ensure display of price list.
