Says close coordination between PRIs, officers instrumental in overall development
RAJOURI, JANUARY 04: Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Farooq Khan, today convened a joint meeting of representatives of PRIs and officers here at Nowshera to discuss development scenario of the area besides deliberating on public issues.

Threadbare discussion was held on several issues of the area which inter alia included macadamization of roads, upgradation of schools, better healthcare services, paucity of staff in government institutions, staff shortage in SDH Nowshera, setting up of sectoral offices at Qila Darhal, internet connectivity at Qila Darhal, dilapidated condition of roads, electricity poles, transformers, additional border bunkers, low voltage, district status to Nowshera subdivision, inclusion of left out beneficiaries under PMAY-G, completion of Siot irrigation scheme, fund release for completion of panchayat ghars at Siot, adequate water and power supply, upgradation of HS Langer to HSS level, shortage of staff in PHC Handan, revival of Cooperative societies, cutting and tailoring centre at Qila Darhal and start of work on road from Bawani to Shalakh, operationalization of Bawani filtration plant.
Addressing the participants, Advisor asked the officers to lay special focus on prompt service delivery besides ensuring timely disposal of public grievances.
Reiterating LG government's commitment towards further strengthening the PRI institutions, he urged upon the PRIs to strictly monitor implementation of development projects for holistic development of their respective areas.
"It gives me immense joy to see that PRIs are now themselves formulating the development plans as per the needs of their areas", the Advisor maintained.
He called for close synergy between the administrative unit and Panchayat Raj Institutions to take the developmental profile to new heights.
Responding to issues and demands projected by the public representatives, Advisor directed the officers to take effective measures for redressal of the same at the earliest.
Replying to issue of water scarcity, Advisor informed that the government has launched ambitious Jal Jeevan Mission which will ensure tapped water to all households of the UT.
Enlisting the measures being taken to boost agriculture and horticulture sector, Advisor said that the UT government has launched a number of initiatives for welfare of the farmers community to raise their socio-economic status.
Regarding sanctioning of additional border bunkers, he informed that UT government is committed to ensure safety of the border residents and an adequate number of bunkers would be constructed in the border belts.
Advisor also redressed the issue of play field in all the panchayats.
Calling for strict adherence to COVID SOPs, he appealed the public to strictly follow the COVID appropriate behaviour to avert its imminent threat.
Later, Advisor attended a public grievances redressal camp at GBHSS School Nowshera.
Advisor also visited and inspected the stalls set up by different departments for disseminating information about various government schemes and programs launched for welfare of common masses.
Advisor said that the Nowshera subdivision has immense potential in pilgrim tourism besides there are several virgin tourist spots in border belts of the district. He assured that necessary steps would be taken to increase the tourist footfall to the subdivision.
Later, Advisor handed over sanction letters to beneficiaries under PMEGP and two tractors under SMAM besides distributing sanction letters for death assistance, education assistance and a sanction letter of 25 lakh for community tubewell. He also distributed school bags among the girl students.
Advisor gave a patient hearing to all the issues and demands projected during the program and asked the concerned officers to take effective measures to ensure early and quality redressal of all the genuine public concerns in a time-bound manner.
