DC Ramban discusses BRO, MGNREGA convergence plan

RAMBAN, FEBRUARY 08:  Deputy Commissioner, Ramban, Mussarat Islam today chaired a meeting of Border Road Origination (BRO) and officers of Rural Development Department besides other senior officers of District Administration to discuss the modalities to formulate a convergence plan to execute the BRO projects in convergence with MGNREGA in the district.

Assistant Commissioner Development, Zameer Ahmed Rishu; ACR Dherinder Sharma; CPO, Dr. Kasturi Lal; OC 52 RCC(GREF),  Mukul Vashisht; OIC 52 RCC, R.K Verma  and other concerned officers attended the meeting.

The Deputy Commissioner said that there is ample opportunity to strike a convergence between these two programmes without diluting their own goals and objectives.

It was informed that BRO constructs roads in border areas mostly keeping the defence and strategic considerations of the nation and most border areas are rural and the infrastructures including road works are also taken there, where BRO will provide job opportunities to job card holders in their respective areas under prescribed guidelines.

The DC asked the officers of BRO to share a detailed list of their sanctioned projects and requirement of labour so that MGNREGA card holders can get work in their local areas.

The Deputy Commissioner also asked the concerned officers to formulate effective plans in convergence mode to start the implementation on the ground level.
