BHADARWAH, FEBRUARY 11: A Kissan Goshti cum awareness camp was today organised by the Department of Horticulture here at village Manthalla. The District Development Council Chairman Dhananter Singh Kotwal was the Chief Guest, while Chief Horticulture officer, Rakesh Kotwal was the Guest of honour.
A large number of Farmers and Orchardists participated in the camp.
Dhananter Singh appreciated the department and advised the officials to organise such camps in each nook and corner of the district for betterment of the farming community.
The CHO made the people aware about different schemes of the department and encouraged them to avail the same.
District Horticulture Officer, Shakil Ahmed, in his address gave a detailed account of various Horticulture schemes and laid special focus on modified high density plantations.
The Officials and experts of departments of Agriculture, Floriculture and scientists from Regional Horticulture Research station also participated in Kissan Goshti and informed the farmers about different schemes. Besides, the farmers were asked to submit their soil samples so that deficiency of both macro and micro nutrients can be detected.
Horticulture development officer Bhaderwah Rahat Bashir gave hands-on training to the participants regarding cultural practices and pruning of fruit plants.
