BANDIPORA, FEBRUARY 08: On directions of Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Dr Owais Ahmed, a market checking squad of Department of Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA), FSSAI, Municipal Council Bandipora, Revenue and Animal Husbandry Department conducted a joint market checking in Bandipora and realized a fine of Rs 3000 from erring shopkeepers.
Taking strong note of the complaints of violation of rules including over-pricing, the District Administration launched a massive district-wide inspection drive to curb over-pricing and take immediate action against instances of CAB violations.
The joint team conducted inspection of various business establishments including vegetable, fruit sellers, Kiryana, Bakery, and other business establishments at different markets of Bandipora.
During the inspection, five establishments were booked, five traders were booked under different laws for violation and a fine of Rs 3000 was imposed on erring traders.
On the occasion, Officers urged the traders to avoid over-pricing and other illegal practices besides maintaining cleanliness and hygiene. They asked the vendors to follow the packaged commodity rules and other Metrology Acts besides following Covid SOPs strictly.
Meanwhile, the DC said that the drive shall continue on a regular basis across all district markets to keep a check on traders and shopkeepers for indulging in overcharging and other unethical activities besides directing officers to ensure strict implementation of CAB.
He said he has directed all the concerned officers to ensure regular inspections of markets and crowded areas falling within their respective jurisdiction and take strict action against those indulging in overpricing and other malpractices.
