BARAMULLA, FEBRUARY 17: The Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Baramulla, Zahoor Ahmad Raina today chaired a meeting of District Tuberculosis Forum to review the progress of various indicators under National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme in the district. The meeting also discussed preparations under TB Sub National Certification.
On the occasion, District Tuberculosis Officer, Dr. Rehana Gulzar welcomed IAPSM team and other dignitaries in the meeting and presented ADC the overview and performance of National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme Baramulla.
Speaking on the occasion, the ADC said that the health department should shift to an active approach to eliminate TB from the district.
He said aggressive campaigning must be carried out to ensure maximum coverage and reduce the stigma associated with TB in the society.
ADC also lauded the DTO and her team for the work carried out so far and said that dedicated efforts have to be made to eradicate TB. He said the focus should be on educating people particularly the high risk group that can contract TB due to other comorbidities.
The participants were also informed that the district has claimed for Sub elimination of TB certification and the District Tuberculosis Centre Baramulla has been performing bidirectional Covid-TB screening.
Pertinently, the volunteers are hired for the survey and the IAPSM team will verify the claim from the 23rd of this month.
ADC Baramulla directed CMO to provide all the necessary support to NTEP Baramulla for Quality Survey.
The meeting was attended by Chief Medical Officer Baramulla, Bashir Ahmad Malik, Nodal Officer IAPSM Kashmir, Medical Superintendent GMC Baramulla besides other staff of National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme.
