Senior Superintendent of Police, Udhampur Vinod Kumar; Additional Deputy Commissioner, Mohammad Syed Khan; Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Rafiq Ahmed Jaral and other district officers of different departments besides Representatives of Beopar mandal and prominent citizen were present in the meeting.
Threadbare discussions were held on arrangements related to security, provision of safe drinking water, power supply, barricading, First-aid, sanitation, checking of rates etc. Directions were issued to district heads of various departments to ensure fool-proof arrangements pertaining to their respective department well before the start of the mela.
To keep check on overcharging and quality of eatables, a Team was constituted to ensure that no shopkeeper sell sub-standard eatables during the mela days at Devika Ghat.
It was decided in the meeting that Executive Engineer Jal Shakti would ensure drinking Water arrangements, while the Executive Officer, Municipality was asked to ensure proper cleansing at the site.
Regarding provision of Healthcare, the CMO was asked to depute a team of doctors along with the ambulance for the mela days. Executive Engineer, PDD would ensure uninterrupted power supply during the Mela days. Likewise, the police department would ensure adequate security arrangements at the mela site. It was decided in the meeting that Tehsildar Udhampur would be the Mela Officer.
The activity calendar for the fair including cultural programme, establishment of control room, deployment of medical teams, Deployment of magistrates, CCTV Cameras and deployment of fire tender were also discussed in the meeting.
“There will be a complete ban on use of disposable material at the mela site,” the meeting decided.
Addressing the meeting, the DC directed all the district officers to work in coordination for finalizing necessary arrangements well in advance.
