BAJCC to organize bike rally on Apr 10, Ambedkar Mela on Apr 14
JAMMU: This press conference is organized to inform the people of JKUT regarding the celebration of the 131st Birthday Anniversary of Bharat Rattan Babasaheb Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar by Babasaheb Ambedkar Jayanti Celebration Committee (BAJCC).
"In addition to the Ambedkar Jayanti Mela, this year the celebration committee will also organize a Bike Rally from Satwari Chowk to Ambedkar Chowk, Jammu," members of the committee Vijay Kundal (XEn) told reporters.
He added that the rally will start at 11:00 AM in the morning from Satwari Chowk and pass through various locations in the Jammu city like Vikram Chowk, Dogra Chowk, Jewel, Gumat, Prem Nagar, Gujjar Nagar, University road etc. and culminate at Babasaheb Ambedkar Chowk, Jammu. It is anticipated that a large number of people coming from different areas of the JKUT and across the different sections of society will join this rally.
For the smooth conduct of the rally and maintenance of the law and order, proper permissions have been obtained from the concerned authorities, he said adding that this will be the first of its kind in the history of the JKUT that a massive bike rally has been arranged to celebrate the birthday anniversary of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar.
Special arrangements have been done to facilitate the participation of women and elderly persons in the rally, he said and requested the participants to wear blue turbans and scarves during the rally.
Lunch would be served to the participants at Ambedkar Chowk after the culmination of the rally.
On April 14, 2022, “Ambedkar Jayanti Mela” would be organized at Ambedkar Chowk, Jammu. Ambedkar Mela is a cultural event organized every year at the same venue. Many renowned artists across JKUT and from other States will perform in the Ambedkar Jayanti Mela and throw light on the life and mission of Babasaheb Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. On previous occasions, Ambedkar Jayanti Mela attracted huge public response.
People across the JKUT along with their families throng onto the Ambedkar Chowk every year on 14th April to pay obeisance to their leader. However due to COVID pandemic, Ambedkar Mela could not be organized in the past two years. This year it is expected that there will be a massive gathering to commemorate the occasion. To facilitate the participation of the people in the Ambedkar Jayanti Mela, Breakfast, Lunch, and Drinking water would be served by the Celebration Committee. In the evening, a cake cutting ceremony would be organized at 6:00 PM where a large number of young children will participate.
The press conference was also attended by Advocate Pawan Kundal, Advocate Leena, Advocate Jasdeep Kour, Prof. Chaman Lal and Sham Lal Bassan.
