Director Rural Sanitation inaugurates 5- Day Training program on implementation of SBM (G) phase –II

SRINAGAR, APRIL 04:The Director Rural Sanitation, J&K, Charandeep Singh today inaugurated five-days training programme of Trainers (ToT) on Implementation of Swachh Bharat Mission-Gramin, Phase-II in at IMPARD Srinagar.

The training programme is being organized by the Directorate of Rural Sanitation, J&K in collaboration with UNICEF, Development partners with Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation, Ministry of Jal Shakti, Government of India. The training programme is aimed to ensure capacity building of PRI members, as Panchayati Raj institutions are assuming a greater role in implementation of schemes at Gram Panchayat level.

The training programme will acquaint the members of PRIs from all the districts of Kashmir division about the practices to be adopted for management of Solid and Liquid Wastes, which is the main theme of SBM-G Phase 2.0.

During the programme, the Director stressed on PRI members that the training programme should pave the way for proper disposal of wastes, across the Kashmir division. The department has already started a pilot project for Solid Waste Management selecting two Gram Panchayats from each district. The process for actualizing the concept of Solid Liquid Waste Management has already begun.

The Director also stated that the capacity building is an important part of any successful project and all the stakeholders shall be given training to ensure the implementation of Solid Liquid Waste Management Projects.

The PRI members also shared their experiences with the Director and were found quite enthusiastic about the training programme and project SLWM.

Deputy Director Rural Sanitation, Kashmir, Assistant Commissioner Panchayat Srinagar, District Panchayat Officer Srinagar and Field Officer, Rural Sanitation Kashmir were also present on the occasion.

Besides, the resource persons from PRIMOVE-UNICEF Development Partner were also present on the occasion.

The training programme is scheduled to culminate on 8th April, 2022.
