SAMBA, JANUARY 14: The Motor Vehicle Department (MVD) of Samba launched the Raksha Mitra Campaign today, as part of the ongoing Road Safety Week Campaign. The campaign was launched in a responder cum first aid Medical Camp organized at Toll Plaza Thandi Khuii in collaboration with Medical, National Highway Authority of India (NHAI), and Traffic Department.

Assistant Development Commissioner Samba, Rakesh Dubey, inaugurated the event, stressing on the importance of traffic rules for safety and the benefits of the training. He highlighted that fatalities due to road accidents can be prevented if victims are provided immediate medical care and reach the hospital within the first hour.

ARTO Samba, Rehana Tabasum informed the participants that the Raksha Mitra initiative is an effort by the district administration to train Youth Club volunteers, shopkeepers, and local inhabitants along the road as first responders to provide instant basic first aid to road accident victims during the golden hours. They also educated drivers about the Good Samaritan reward and other initiatives launched by the department.

MVI Vikas Srivats spoke in length about various initiatives taken by the Transport Department to prevent fatalities and reward first responders.

Approximately 150 participants took part in the camp where they were trained by experts from the medical department. Officials from MVD, Traffic, representatives from NHAI, locals, and workers from the Toll plaza participated in the event.
