RAJOURI, JANUARY 12: To raise awareness about golden traffic norms and encourage safe driving, the Motor Vehicle Department (MVD) organised a road safety awareness program for the first time license seekers on Thursday.

The main objective of the event was to address the alarming increase in traffic violations and promote the habit of adhering to traffic safety laws.

While talking to the first time license seekers, the Assistant Regional Transport Officer, Shami Kumar stressed on the importance of abiding by traffic rules, urging all participants to follow them and adhere to road safety regulations.

He urged the participants to be mindful of their duties and responsibilities while driving and observe self restraint and follow speeding limits which is a way forward towards changing driving behaviors.

The ARTO also exhorted them to adhere to the "golden rules" of safe driving, which include wearing a seatbelt, avoiding excessive speed, maintaining a fit vehicle, avoiding cell phone use while driving, and remaining sober while operating a motor vehicle.

During the event, a pledge-taking ceremony for road safety was also organised in which all participants pledged to abide by the traffic norms while plying vehicles on the road.
