JAMMU:
PSPS Govt. P.G. College for Women GANDHINAGAR, Jammu recently hosted the NAAC Awareness Programme, jointly organized by the NAAC, Bengaluru and the Higher Education Department of JK UT. The Programme was coordinated by Govt. College For Women Parade on 12/01/2023, with the aim of creating awareness about the NAAC guidelines. The Programme began with a warm welcome for the chief guest Sh. Alok Kumar, IRS, Principal Secretary, Higher Education Department, JK UT. It was followed by an enlightening presence of Dr. Pratibha Singh (Deputy Advisor NAAC), Sh. S. Srinivasa (Deputy Advisor NAAC,) Dr. Wahidul Hasan (Senior Communication Cum Publication Officer NAAC), Dr. Yasmeen Ashai (Director Colleges, JK UT) and other higher officials. The Programme was concluded with a lamp lightening ceremony and floral tributes to Goddess Saraswati. The Programme was attended by the Principals, IQAC Coordinators and faculty members of various colleges of JK Kashmir, making it a successful and informative event.
The formal welcome address was delivered by Dr. S.P. Saraswat, Nodal Principal of Jammu Division Colleges. He highlighted the significance of the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) and the accreditation process in assessing the performance of educational institutions. Dr. Pratibha Singh, Deputy Advisor of NAAC, then discussed the agenda of the workshop on NAAC and emphasized the importance of accreditation as a benchmark of quality. She further highlighted the need for educational institutions to accommodate changes according to the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and strive to phase out of affiliation system, while aiming to become autonomous institutions.
Dr. Yasmeen Ashai, Director Colleges (Jammu and Kashmir Higher Education Department) gave an insightful introduction about the event and applauded the Higher Education Department for the successful transition to NEP 2020. She highlighted the importance of having a robust Internal Quality Assurance Committee to meet the quality parameters set by the NAAC and emphasized that good institutions produce good products, thus colleges must focus on self-assessment and continuous improvement.
Sh. Alok Kumar (IRS), Principal Secretary (JKHED) congratulated the organizers for organizing this informative workshop on NAAC awareness programme. He highlighted the need to not only focus on grading but also strive for continuous improvement in educational systems. He encouraged everyone to keep complying with quality standards and maintain the highest levels of educational excellence.
The second session of the event commenced with the technical events and concluded with a heartfelt Vote of Thanks presented by Dr. Khurshid Ahmed Khan, the Nodal Principal of Kashmir Division Colleges. His vote of thanks was followed by the singing of the National Anthem, which served as a reminder of the importance of the national unity. After the Vote of Thanks, guests and participants continued the proceedings with a high tea.
