Surinder Manhas, Neelu Malviya remembered, homage paid
Jammu, July 30: Furthering its pursuit to carry forward its strong representation and outreach, Jammu & Kashmir Cine Association today took up a noble cause to pay homage to departed souls who recently have left for heavenly abode.
In a function organized at Abhinav Theatre today, JKCA paid homage and floral tributes to late Surinder Manhas , renowned music director and Neelu Malviya, senior stage , films and TV artist while presenting a befitting remembrance to the noble souls and their active participation in raising the standards of art and culture.
In his opening remarks, Joint Secretary Sudesh Verma presented a brief, but remarkable contribution of both and said their untimely departure has left a big void on Jammu films and culture front.
“Their contribution would be remembered for many years and would be a path opener for generations to come,” said Sudesh Verma.
Two minutes of silence was observed on the occasion to pay homage to the departed souls.
On the occasion many of the artists’ fraternity people joined JKCA and vowed to lead the organization from the front to reach the zenith of success.
Welcoming the artists on the occasion, President Dharminder Kohli said that the canopy of love and brotherhood of the artists’ fraternity has grown manifold and time has come that a united effort be launched to flag Jammu and Kashmir on national as well as international horizons.
“I am overwhelmed to see the ocean surge and hope that the love, faith and belief enshrined in the establishment of JKCA would be a path breaker for new horizons and we unitedly will grow and lead to reach the zeniths,” said Dharminder Kohli .
Meanwhile, Pankaj Khajuria took to the forefront while announcing first of its kind celebrations JKCA is contemplating in the coming weeks.
He announced two Mega Festivals in the months of September and October to be conducted under the aegis of Jammu and Kashmir Cine association and said that the organization would be releasing the opening dates of both festivals in mid August.
“I take immense pleasure to announce that JKCA is coming up two festivals of unique kind – one being Short Film and Musical Festival and other Feature Films Festival of Jammu and Kashmir Cine Association for which the elaborate details would be released in mid August ,” said Pankaj Khajuria .
His announcement was overwhelmingly received by the houseful audience present on the occasion that approved of the announcement listing their whole participation.
Atul Vinod Duggal , general secretary JKCA while presenting the vote of thanks said that the highly vocal and excited participation of the members of JKCA has well established that the organization is all set to make its strong footprints in the UT as well as on national milieu .
“ My heartfelt gratitude goes to all for making this moment a surging movement which would create a milestone on UT panorama and a historical insignia for centuries to come ,” concluded Duggal.
