The recent opposition meeting in Bangalore was a significant step in the
right direction for the Indian political landscape. For the first time in
years, a large number of opposition parties 26 in numbers came together to
discuss a common strategy for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections and formed a
coalition – Indian National Development Inclusive Alliance ( INDIA)
The meeting was not without its challenges. However, the fact that
the parties were able to come together at all is a sign of hope for those who are
tired of the current government and feel that democracy, secularism and
constitution is in danger in India.
One of the most important outcomes of the meeting was the agreement to
form a common minimum program. This program will outline the key policies that
the opposition would pursue if it were to come to power. The program is still
in its early stages, but it is a positive step towards creating a united
opposition front. A committee will be formed to draft the common minimum agenda
to fight the Lok Sabha election 2024.
Another important outcome of the meeting was the decision to hold
regular consultations between the opposition parties. This will help to ensure
that the opposition is on the same page and that it is able to present a united
front against the BJP. However, there is still a long way to go before the
opposition can defeat the BJP in the 2024 elections. The opposition parties
will need to continue to work together and develop a strong and coherent
message.
If the opposition can do these things, they will
have a good chance of winning the next general election.
For coordination among the parties a committee of 11 members will be set
up and a convenor will be selected in the next meeting at Mumbai the date of
which will be announced later on.
On the other side NDA convened it’s meeting on 18th yesterday in New
Delhi and while addressing meeting of 39 NDA constituents PM Modi said that NDA
coalition is contribution, not compulsion and will come to power for a third
consecutive term and will bag more than 50 percent of the vote share. Commenting
upon the opposition alliance he said that when the alliance is formed with
intention of corruption and based on dynastic politics, casteism and
regionalism then the alliance is very harmful for the country.
The BJP is well organised party and has spread its tentacles
almost in every corner of the country. It’s cader is dedicated and energetic.
Now the coming months will see how the present Govt reaches out to public with
the work done in the last two terms and how it will resolve the public
issues such as unemployment and rise in prices of articles of daily use and
opposition succeeding in conveying to public that it is the best alternative to
the present Govt for strong , stable and people friendly government in the
centre.
