President Biden and Harris Lead 9/11 Memorial Ceremony in New York City

NEW YORK, SEPTEMBER, 11:
Americans across the country honored the victims and heroes of the World Trade Center terrorist attacks on Monday, marking the 22nd anniversary of the tragedy.

In New York City, President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris led a memorial ceremony at the 9/11 Memorial and Museum. The ceremony began with a moment of silence at 8:46 a.m. Eastern Time, the time when the first plane struck the World Trade Center. It then featured a reading of the names of the victims, performances by various artists, and a speech by Biden.

"We come together today to remember and to honor the nearly 3,000 innocent people who were taken from us," Biden said. "We also remember the first responders and the heroes who risked their lives to save others. Their sacrifice will never be forgotten."

Biden also spoke about the importance of fighting terrorism and keeping America safe. "We will never forget the lessons of 9/11," he said. "We will never give in to fear. And we will never rest until we have defeated terrorism."

In addition to the memorial ceremony in New York City, there were many other events held across the country to honor the victims and heroes of 9/11. These included moments of silence, services, and concerts.

The attacks of 9/11 were a defining moment in American history. They killed nearly 3,000 people and led to the War on Terror. The attacks also had a profound impact on American society, leading to increased security measures and a heightened sense of patriotism.

On this 22nd anniversary of 9/11, we remember the victims and heroes of that day. We also reflect on the impact of the attacks and the lessons we have learned. We must never forget the sacrifices that were made, and we must continue to fight against terrorism in all its forms.
