MUMBAI: Actor Sajid Khan passes away at the age of 70. The actor breathed his last while fighting the battle with cancer, and gave a big blow to the industry.
Actor Sajid Khan has passes away at the age of 70. The actor was fighting a battle with cancer for some time. However, Sajid lost this battle and left after making everyone cry. According to the information, the actor died on December 22. Sajid was best known for playing the younger version of Sunil Dutt’s character Birju in Mehboob Khan’s film ‘Mother India’. She also gained fame with international projects like ‘Maya’ and ‘The Singing Filipina’.
The actor’s son Sameer told PTI, ‘He was battling cancer for some time. He died on Friday (22 December). According to Sameer, his father had settled in Kerala with his second wife. Sameer added, ‘My father was adopted by Rajkumar Pitamber Rana and Sunita Pitamber and was raised by filmmaker Mehboob Khan. He was not active in films for some time and was mostly engaged in philanthropy. He often came to Kerala and liked it here, he remarried and settled here.
The mortal remains of actor Sajid Khan were laid to rest at Kayamkulam Town Juma Masjid in Alappuzha district of Kerala. After ‘Mother India’, Sajid Khan played the lead role in Mehboob Khan’s ‘Son of India’. Khan rose to global stardom as a teen idol with his role in ‘Maya’, where he played the role of Raji, a local boy who befriends the character played by Jay North. Due to the popularity of the film, a series with the same name was made and Khan’s popularity increased significantly.
Sajid Khan made a guest appearance in an episode of the American TV show ‘The Big Valley’ and appeared as a guest judge on the music show ‘It’s Happening’. The actor became a well-known name in the Philippines and worked with actress Nora Aunor in films like ‘The Singing Filipina’, ‘My Funny Girl’ and ‘The Prince and I’. Khan played the role of a dacoit in the Merchant-Ivory production ‘Heat and Dust’.
