SAMBA, JANUARY 23; As a part of “National Girl child week being observed from 19 to 24 January 2024”, an awareness programme was organized on Menstrual Hygiene at Panchayat Glar, District Samba under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Scheme, under the guidance of District Social Welfare Officer Samba.
In the program DHEW team laid emphasis on the importance on BETI BACHAO BETI PADHAO. Navya, a dedicated social worker from the Live for Others Foundation was also presented during the program. She conducted an insightful session addressing various aspects of menstrual health. She shed light on hygiene practices and dispelled taboos associated with menstruation, engaging with the women present in the awareness program.
District Hub for Empowerment of Women Samba also organised Mahila Sabha on importance of skill development.
Later, DHEW team took the stage to enlighten attendees about various government schemes and loans designed to support women.
The team emphasized the importance of women empowerment, sharing valuable insights and information. Women were sensitized about Child Protection and the importance of skill development courses offered by SBI RSETI, PMKVY for their livelihood so that they can become self reliant. Apart from this they were provided detailed information regarding Sukanya Samridhi Yojana for the better future of a girl child. This Special Gram Sabha drew focus to save, protect, nurture and educate the Girl Child by ensuring the enforcement of the PC & PNDT Act in the District.
A total of 105 women including adolescent girls attended the program, . As a practical step towards promoting menstrual hygiene, sanitary napkins were distributed to all the women present. The event proved to be a meaningful step in fostering awareness and empowering women in Glar village. Refreshment was also distributed to all the participants.
