RAMBAN, JANUARY 23: To celebrate the 14th National Voters’ Day (NVD), the Election Department, Ramban, under the aegis of District Election Officer, Baseer-Ul-Haq Chaudhary, organized a series of competitions at Government Model Higher Secondary School, Ramban.
The theme for the event, “Nothing Like Voting, I Vote For Sure,” underscores the Election Commission of India’s (ECI) commitment to maximize awareness among the voters especially before Lok Sabha elections this year.
Students from several Educational and Vocational institutions enthusiastically participated in Debate, Painting, and Quiz competitions held under the guidance of Programme Officer, ICDS, ( Nodal Officer, SVEEP) Jahangir Hashmi, besides cultural programmes showcasing their awareness and engagement in the democratic process.
Emphasizing the significance of National Voters’ Day, the speakers articulated that the primary objective of the celebration is to encourage, facilitate, and maximize voter enrollment, massive participation of new voters in upcoming elections. The day, dedicated to the voters of the country, serves as an opportunity to raise awareness and promote informed participation in the electoral process.
Highlighting the importance of National Voters’ Day, Deputy District Election Officer Lal Chand said that it is observed nationwide on January 25 every year since 2011, saying that this date marks the Foundation day of the Election Commission of India, established on January 25, 1950.
The event successfully fosters a spirit of civic responsibility and reinforces the democratic ethos, urging citizens, especially the youth, to actively participate in shaping the developed nation.
Later, the voters’ pledge was administered to the participants.
Among others, Chief Education Officer, Ramban, Dev Anand, DSEO, Ganesh Dutt, CHO, Anil Gorka, Principal of host School, Kewal Krishan Sharma, Nodal Officer , ELC, Abdul Hamid, besides teaching faculty and students were present on the occasion.
