Officers asked to increase ground presence
JAMMU, JANUARY 20: District Magistrate Sachin Kumar Vaishya on Saturday chaired a meeting to review the status and progress of the works taken up under the Border Area Development Plan- 2023-24.
The BADP is a flagship scheme of the Centre aimed to bridge the infrastructural gap and strengthen basic facilities in the border areas. The meeting evaluated the performance and achievements of the scheme and discussed the challenges and issues faced by the executing agencies.
The Executive Engineers of different divisions, including Khour, Akhnoor and RS Pura, presented detailed reports on the works initiated and completed under the scheme, as well as the pending works and the funds utilised.
The District Magistrate instructed the Additional District Development Commissioner to coordinate with the Block Development Officers and finalise the deadlines for the completion of the pending works. He also exhorted the BDOs and ExEns to take responsibility and resolve the issues that hampered the execution of the works. He emphasised the need to ensure timely and quality completion of the projects.
The meeting was attended by senior officers including Chief Planning Officer Uttam Singh, Assistant Commissioner Development Preeti Sharma and Executive Engineers of different divisions besides others.
Later, Sachin Kumar convened another meeting attended by ADC Ansuya Jamwal, ADC Shishir Gupta, ACR Piyush Dhotra, Sub-Divisional Magistrates, Tehsildars and officers from Rural Development Department including ACD and BDOs. The DC reviewed the performance of Revenue, RDD and other Departments and quizzed the officers on their day to day activities.
The Revenue Department officers were asked to expedite the digitisation process, maintain transparency in operations and connect with the public. The DC also reviewed the progress of other digital interventions undertaken by the department.
Similarly, the Rural Development Department and its officers gave details about the progress on different schemes and works in their respective jurisdictions, such as MGNREGA, PMAY (G), SBM, IWMP and others.
He exhorted all the officers to make their presence felt in the public through implementation of projects, rule of law and bringing positive change in the lives of the masses.
