R.S. PURA: – J&K Jatt Sabha organized a Lohri Milan program here at its headquarters in R.S. Pura in Jammu District to celebrate the festival.
The Jatt Milan was organized under the leadership of President, J&K Jatt Sabha, and Former Minister, S. Manjit Singh.
The occasion was also attended by J&K Jatt Sabha’s Senior Vice President, Ex-Minister Sukhnandan Choudhary, Vice President of Sabha, Ex-MLC Vikram Randhawa, District President, Jammu, Dwarka Choudhary, ex-PRIs, and other prominent people.
In this program, the participants also discussed in detail about the strengthening of the organization as well as certain demands that are required to be fulfilled in the interest of Jatts of Jammu and Kashmir.
Speaking on the occasion, S. Manjit Singh demanded that the recommendations of Backward Class Commission should be implemented in favour of Jatts of Jammu and Kashmir by granting them Other Backward Class (OBC) status.
He said that the Jatts across the country have been granted OBC status, but the same right has been denied in Jammu and Kashmir to them. He also demanded that the Jatts should be given political reservation in Panchayats, Assembly and Parliamentary elections.
Meanwhile, the Jatt Sabha has authorized Ex-Sarpanch, Surjeet Choudhary to organize Jatt youth and accordingly, Sushma Choudhary has also been authorized to organize Jatt women.
“The purpose of organizing Jatt youth and women is to establish a proper structure of both, and accordingly constitute separate teams to work for the welfare of youth as well as women,” he added.
