REASI, FEBRUARY 10: In a significant move towards promotion of employment opportunities among local youth, District Development Commissioner Reasi, Vishesh Mahajan, on Saturday inaugurated a skill training program in tailoring here at the Government Industrial Training Institute (ITI) under the PM Vishwakarma scheme.
The program, designed to impart 5 day Basic Skill Training to the inaugural batch comprising 30 trainees, marks the commencement of a valuable initiative aimed at enhancing vocational skills and empowering individuals in the tailoring trade.
The inauguration ceremony witnessed the presence of General Manager District Industry Centre, Mohd. Anwar Banday, Principal of Polytechnic Reasi, Superintendent ITI, master trainers, and all enrolled trainees.
Speaking on the occasion, the DC emphasized the collaborative endeavors of various line departments in effectively implementing the PM Vishwakarma scheme across the district. He highlighted the scheme’s potential to uplift artisans by equipping them with innovative skills conducive to sustainable livelihoods, thereby fostering economic growth within the district.
The DC reiterated Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of skill development for all individuals, urging students to capitalize on the benefits offered by the PM Vishwakarma Scheme in conjunction with their academic pursuits. Furthermore, he revealed that the district administration of Reasi has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with IIT Jammu, introducing a two-month course aimed at enhancing vocational skills among the youth.
Encouraging the trainees, the DC urged them to leverage the available facilities at ITI to their fullest potential during the skill training period, emphasizing the significance of acquiring practical expertise in tailoring.
