Kolkata, February 10th: Veteran actor Mithun Chakraborty, 73, was admitted to Apollo Hospital in Bypass, Kolkata, on Saturday morning after experiencing a sudden deterioration in his health. He was immediately brought to the emergency department with complaints of weakness in his right and upper body.
Chakraborty’s condition is currently stable, according to the hospital. A medical board comprising neurologists, cardiologists, and gastroenterologists has been formed to oversee his treatment. He has undergone an MRI scan which revealed ischemic cerebrovascular stroke, necessitating his admission to the Neuro ICU.
“Mr. Chakraborty is conscious and responding well,” the hospital’s medical bulletin stated. He is currently on a light diet and receiving specialized care from the medical board.
Chakraborty boasts an illustrious career spanning over 350 films across Hindi, Bengali, Odia, Bhojpuri, and Tamil languages. He is a recipient of the Padma Bhushan, India’s third-highest civilian award.
