NOIDA-Uttar Pradesh: YouTuber Elvish Yadav and the champion of Bigg Boss OTT, has been remanded to judicial custody for a period of 14 days in connection with a startling case involving the illicit use of snake venom at rave gatherings. Yadav’s detention followed extensive interrogation by the Noida Police regarding a raid carried out in November 2023. An FIR has been lodged at Sector 49 Noida police station against six persons, including Elvish Yadav, under the Wildlife Protection Act 1972 and section 120B of the IPC for criminal conspiracy.

The Wildlife Protection Act of 1972, designed to safeguard India’s wildlife and their habitats, prohibits activities such as hunting, poaching, and illegal trading of protected wildlife species and their parts. Additionally, IPC Section 120B outlines penalties for criminal conspiracy, applicable in cases where there’s evidence of organized plans to violate wildlife protection laws.

The investigation unfolded following a raid on November 3rd, 2023, when Noida Police uncovered a rave party at a banquet hall in Sector 51, where snake venom was allegedly being used as a recreational substance. Among the five individuals arrested were four snake charmers, and the authorities seized nine snakes along with 20 ml of snake venom. Disturbingly, all nine snakes had their venom glands surgically extracted.

Further probes linked Elvish Yadav to the event, with suspicions that he may have played a role in organizing the party and supplying the snake venom. There were also allegations of Yadav incorporating snakes and their venom into his YouTube content, potentially violating wildlife protection laws.

Elvish Yadav vehemently refutes these charges, dismissing them as baseless and false. Despite his denials, forensic evidence confirming the presence of snake venom at the party location has strengthened the case against him.

The case has garnered significant attention from animal rights activists, including Maneka Gandhi, who have demanded swift action against Yadav. People For Animals (PFA), an animal rights organization, has filed additional complaints against Yadav, accusing him of making threats subsequent to the raid.

This incident raises concerns about the accountability of social media influencers like Yadav and underscores the dangers of promoting harmful practices. It also highlights the imperative to protect wildlife from exploitation and misuse.

As the case progresses, with Yadav remaining in judicial custody, the court will assess the extent of his involvement in this troubling affair.
