UDHAMPUR, MARCH 30: A mega voters’ awareness program, as part of Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) initiative, was successfully organized today at Basantgarh.
District Election Officer (DEO), Saloni Rai orchestrated this meticulous SVEEP plan, particularly focusing on low voter turnout areas.
As part of the voters’ awareness today the DEO joined a mega awareness programme at Basantgarh organized by Assistant Returning Officer (ARO) Ramnagar Rafiq Ahmad Jaral and SDM Basantgarh Waheed Ur Rehman at the local Government Higher Secondary School, as a key component of the SVEEP campaign for the Lok Sabha Election 2024.
Senior Superintendent of Police, Joginder Singh Sambyal also participated in the awareness program and inspected the vulnerable polling booths amid briefing the Security forces for the upcoming Lok Sabha election.
While addressing the gathering, DEO Saloni Rai encouraged the public, especially first-time and female voters, to actively participate in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, emphasizing their crucial role in strengthening democracy. She underscored the importance of women’s active involvement in the electoral process for the nation’s progress.
The event featured theme-based cultural performances related to SVEEP by Subash Brahmanu and party and Master Tirath Ram, besides an impressive Nukkad Natak presented by Mohammad Akram Khan to educate and inspire active public participation in the democratic process.
Similar awareness programs were conducted at GDC Dudu, GHSS Sia Mehari, GHSS Panara, and other educational institutions under the supervision of SDM Dudu, SDM Basantgarh and Tehsildar Basantgarh.
ARO Ramnagar, Rafiq Ahmad Jaral outlined the broad spectrum of awareness being conducted under SVEEP. He highlighted that every polling station was covered with over 50 awareness programs conducted through Nodal Officer; besides creating 158 WhatsApp groups covering 80% voters to disseminate information with the assistance of Election Icons, Influencers, and prominent personalities.
Furthermore, experts and speakers emphasized the significance of electoral literacy in empowering citizens and urged everyone, especially first-time voters, to responsibly exercise their franchise in the forthcoming elections.
