Sahibganj, Jharkhand : In a widely circulated video, JMM leader Nazrul Islam was allegedly heard stating, “We will bury Prime Minister Modi 400 feet beneath the earth.” Today, the leader has retracted his statement, saying, “I categorically deny making such a statement. The remark ‘bury 400 feet below’ is being attributed to me. The statement is being misconstrued by people. What I had actually said was ‘400 sey pehle gaanth baandh denge’. I was referring to ousting him from power. I apologize if I have offended anyone’s sentiments.

BJP angry over JMM Leader Nazrul Islam’s controversial speech.

On the occasion of Ambedkar Jayanti on April 14, JMM leader Nazrul Islam organized a one-day protest near the railway station in Sahibganj district headquarters. During the demonstration, Nazrul Islam made inflammatory remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

In his speech, Islam alleged that Hitler’s spirit had entered Modi and that the Prime Minister intended to abolish the Constitution. He further stated that while Modi would not be able to win more than 400 seats in the upcoming elections, the JMM would “bury him 400 feet under the ground.”

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has sought the Election Commission’s intervention in the matter. BJP MLA Anant Ojha has urged the commission to take cognizance of the speech.

In a press conference, BJP spokesperson Pratul Shahdev condemned the remarks, calling them “a serious matter.” He accused the opposition alliance (Indi alliance) of spreading desperation and hopelessness.
